Q: DOES ADVAITH INCORPORATE THE MONTESSORI PHILOSOPHY?

A: Taking the teachings of Maria Montessori, we’ve created a child-centered program for our youngest students, where curiosity blooms. Children interact with beautiful Montessori materials to refine their tactile understanding of the world around them, all while engaging in a traditional pre-school environment with time for art, reading, social studies, science, discovery, music, and play. The Montessori principles of independent and group work where students are the drivers of their success, permeates our elementary program, from Kindergarten through second grade. While students are not in Montessori classrooms at this age, nor are they engaging with the same Montessori materials they once did in Early Childhood, the Montessori thread is woven throughout, fostering the development of confident, driven, collaborative, and creative children.

Teachers are also frequently in touch with families via phone calls, and parents are welcome to request appointments to discuss a child’s progress as necessary.

While embracing the individual and allowing the child to lead and discover, students at Advaith are also given opportunities to assume authentic leadership roles and develop an age-appropriate sophistication that is not commonly found in K-12 environments. We are a warm, down-to-earth, respectful community. Status isn’t important to us here. We value children as leaders and view parents as partners throughout this momentous and endearing journey toward adolescence.

Q: WHAT DO ADVAITH ALUMNI HAVE IN COMMON?

A:Time and again, we are told by ongoing schools how confident, collaborative, and poised our alumni are. It is not unusual to hear former students rattling off about coding, foreign policy, basketball stats, or the latest exhibit. Our students go off into the world having built life-long friendships in our courtyard and hallways, armed with the everlasting inquisitiveness and curiosity that is characteristic to an inclusive and holistic education. Our relationship with alumni continues to grow year-on-year!
