The purpose of conducting craft activities in Advaith International Academy is to enhance student’s talent in crafting and to develop skill for students to be self-sufficient. Crafting allows the students to explore ideas, express themselves as well as develop social interaction with others while having fun. By introducing crafting to the students the cognitive, physical and social skills are developed. We provide a balanced Design Crafts, students further their aesthetic appreciation and knowledge of the diverse forms and various materials used to solve the utilitarian needs of all societies, past and present. The student will explore three-dimensional processes with various materials using traditional and non-traditional constructive techniques. Instructional topics support learning in other content areas and encourage lifelong learning.

Students enjoy crafting as crafts are the fun way for students to learn about making objects. We give more craft activities that are easy, thought provoking and educational. Through this craft activities students will explore themselves in culture, science and math. Students learn about background information about each of the themes. Upon completion of an activity, students are encouraged to share their artwork with their peers, friends and family. Students will present an exhibition to display all the decorative items made in the craft session.

Crafting is introduced in Advaith School to provide creative atmosphere to the students. The students of different ages and from different classes enjoy doing the crafting work. The main aim is to be educational, creative, fun and enjoyable.

The craft work conducted at Advaith School in Hosur are fun activities for our students. Be it making miniature statue from clay, folding paper to create fine origami or designing a handmade birthday card, which can enhance the interest of the students and improve their artistic potential. Initially students will begin with all the basics and gradually learn the skills to master the craft. As the students design and make decorative craft items they will use and learn about the variety of craft resources and materials. During craft activities, student’s creative, imaginative and motor skills will be gained and enhanced.

Crafting is fundamental to human existence, predating written language. It plays a major role in human evolution and development. Each involves a different way of thinking:

• Emphasises ideas, feelings, and visual qualities
• Craft emphasises the right use of tools and materials
• Design emphasises planning, problem-solving and completion, using drawing as a means of thinking

These unite in the basic human drive to shape the world, for functional purposes, and to express and communicate ideas and feelings. The contribution of the visual and plastic arts to life is a unique and enriching experience for all.

Crafting provides a unique part of the education of the whole person, through heart, head and hand, enabling the person to shape his or her world with discernment, and to understand and appreciate the work of others. The benefits of an education in Crafting for students at this developmental stage extend far beyond a competence in the subject itself (and the ability to apply it through life): Craft education develops a number of important personal qualities, particularly those of initiative, perseverance, sensibility and self- reliance.

Activities

Our school students enjoy and have fun while doing craft activities. The craft work starts from Pre-Kg to XII. Each and every student brings out their artistic skill by doing craft activities. They express their innovative ideas. They create their own beautiful craft work with available materials. Our school supports recycling concept. Students are encouraged to recycle the available materials in their surroundings to convert in to useful and valuable things.
