Dining

Eating habits and food practices play an important role in students’ current and future health and well-being. It not only impacts students’ performance in class but also influences their behaviour and moods. The habits which begin at a young age may be long-lasting and difficult to alter in adulthood.

“Health is much more dependent on our habits and nutrition than on medicine.” -
John Lubbock

Healthy eating habits are essential for students’ mental and physical development. Children need a balanced diet. A school is a place where a child spends most of the time of his childhood.

In Advaith, we provide well-planned nutritious meals in our refectory. We not only serve healthy meals but also, help in shaping our students’ preferences and attitudes towards nutritious food by guiding them in making healthy choices. The meals include morning energy drink, lunch, and evening snacks for our growing kids. We have an ‘In-house’ catering team, who prepares fresh meals every day. Many fruits and vegetables are organically grown in our school farm. The food is cooked and served under the complete hygienic system. Healthy meals and snacks consist of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and pulses. Our refectory serves unprocessed vegetarian meals in a daily diet which promotes a healthier body, behaviour, and brain powers. Our energy drink consists of a mixture of roasted nuts and millets in hot milk which helps in boosting students’ immunity and strength. Lunch comprises of a variety of rice (vegetable rice/ fried rice/ sambar rice/ tamarind rice) along with rasam rice and curd rice. Snacks time comes with a variety of healthy and fulfilling snacks like fruit salad, sprouts, sugarcane juice, etc.

For nurturing healthy eating habits, we provide hands-on experience at how food is grown in our school’s vegetable farm. It encourages students to explore and reason the benefits of healthy eating habits. Teachers are role models for their students. For bringing healthy eating habits, our teachers eat the same meals with the students at the school. Along with teaching healthy eating habits we also encourage our students to follow proper table manners. Learning good table manners will help in having better social interaction and will stay with them for the rest of their life. Teachers start teaching good table manners right from Pre-KG onwards. It includes washing hands, using a napkin, chewing food properly with a closed mouth, no- conversation while eating, and most importantly saying “please”, “thank you” and “excuse me” to the serving staff. We encourage our students to understand the value of food by following the “zero-wastage rule” in our school. Students are encouraged to take food in small quantities for reducing wastage and can ask for a second helping if required. It helps them to understand that food wastage is one of the root causes of hunger worldwide. A regular mealtime in Advaith is not just having food; it’s a holistic learning experience for our students.

Advaith School in Hosur offers food / dining as “fuel for holistic fitness and life” program with a staunch commitment to nutritious in-house meal preparation, wholesome and 100% vegetarian. With our stringent sanitation, food safety programs and our dedication to serve our students well, we ensure a joyous and happier food times.
