TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. Ted-Ed is an offspring educational initiative — aims to amplify voices and ideas of students. The nonprofit that runs the conference and video series was born in 1984 as a format for professionals in technology, entertainment and design (hence the name) to share their innovative ideas, but it struggled to make money up until 1990. Now, there are over 1,500 TED Talk videos and thousands of events held across over 150 countries. TED-Ed’s commitment to creating lessons worth sharing is an extension of TED’s mission of spreading great ideas. With this philosophy in mind, students on a bi-weekly routine can present their ideas to the entire school. Awards are presented to students for breakthrough ideas or concepts. A wide range of subject talks are delivered without boundaries. TED Ed is a non-profit movement devoted to spreading ideas get involved with.

Students are trained over several days. They are guided by professional person for a subject the student has chosen. A team of Ted ed organizers help students with preparation, video and slide preparation, art of speaking, facial gestures, body language over a period of weeks before they are to present their ideas before audience.
